No doors

You come round on the floor of a dark room. One lamp burns over the table, a cigarette smoulders in the ashtray, the water in the glass shivers, and in the lit circle a copper coin stands on edge. No doors. Only you, the coin and the table.

Start flipping. Spend what you earn on the odds of heads, the coin's value, the streak multiplier, tempo and luck: the coin is restruck right on the table — copper into bronze, silver, gold, platinum, rhodium.

The room answers: on long streaks something happens to the fan, the cards, the padlock on the grate and the light itself — and it leaves traces for the whole run. The prologue is voiced, and the score plays live and moves with your streak.

    How to play

    On a computer

    • Press Space, click the table or the flip button — the coin goes up and comes down.
    • The upgrade rack is on the left; the journal on the right keeps everything the room has said.
    • Drag to turn the camera, scroll to zoom.

    On a phone

    • Tap the flip button or the table to throw.
    • Drag to turn the camera, pinch to zoom.
    • The table fits a portrait screen as well as a landscape one.

The prologue is voiced and the music listens to your streak — headphones help.

The run is saved in this browser after every flip: come back and the table is just as you left it.
